教科書、６地区で他社を三省堂に変更…謝礼問題

　教科書を発行する「三省堂」（東京）の謝礼問題で、謝礼を受け取った校長ら６人が関与した２０１１年度の大阪市や岡山市など６地区の教科書選定（採択）では、中学の英語教科書が他社から三省堂に切り替わっていたことが、文部科学省の調査や読売新聞の取材でわかった。(読売新聞)

 

　　中学生や高校生の中には教師を信じてついていく子もいる。その使っている教科書がワイロをもらって決まった教科書だとは夢にも思わないのだろう。

　もし、真剣に無心に受験に向き合えば、どの教材が有効なのかは分かるのだ。そして、もし教師の勧める問題集や参考書が役に立たないと分かったら教師の言うことに耳を貸さないでいいのだ。

　そうしないと、競争に勝てない。

　論理で考えずに、

「先生の言うことを無視したら可愛そう」

　といった感情的な反応は禁物だ。

　たとえ善人の医師がいても、その治療法が間違っていたら患者は死ぬ。

  When westudy hard enough, we can easily tell which learning materials are good.  If teachers recommend learning materials whichare not good, students should refuse to use them.  To pass the entrance exams to good schools,we have to do it.

  But it is difficult to do so because studentsare innocent and say

“We should not use such words.”

  This is emotional reaction, which I don’tlike.

  Even if a doctor is a good person, his or herpatient will die if his or her treatment is wrong.

　どうして学校はアレコレ規則や強制で生徒を縛り付けるかというと、愚連隊のようなロクでなしがいるからだ。

「自由にしたら、アイツらは何をしでかすか分からん」

　という生徒を相手に校則（拘束）でしばりつけるのは仕方ない。しかし、そんな生徒相手の宿題や強制クラブを真面目な生徒にまで強制するのは間違いなのだ。

　そんなことをするから、教師は真面目な子の信頼を失う。

  Why doschools give strict rules to students?  That’s because we have many delinquents.  They cannot behave well and we need strictrules to stop them.  But such rulesbother good students.

  Good students who like to study are requiredto attend one of club activities and they have no choice.  This is not good.  Good students don’t trust teachers due tothis bad rule.

　人間は束縛を嫌うから「自由権」が認められている。基本的人権を無視している学校はおかしい。学校の主役であるはずの生徒の基本的人権を踏みにじるのは、なぜなんだろう。

　やはり、アメリカの学校のように午後２時半になったら学校は消灯して生徒を解放してやるのが正しい。そこから先は勉強したい子はすればいい。野球をしたい子はすればいい。

　そういう自由があるから、アメリカでは自由な発想の企業が生まれる素地ができる。

  People don’t like to be bothered when they dowhat they like.  This is the main reasonwhy people think much of freedom and liberty. When I was teaching in Logan, Utah, the school was closed around 3:00p.m. and students went home.  They coulddo what they liked after school.

  In my view, thisis because the U.S. has many inventors who create new things.

　もっと自分の人生を大切にすべきなのだ。本当に尊敬できる師にめぐりあったら従えばいい。しかし、たまたま出会った教師に自分の将来を託していいものか。

　クラブ活動から、一流のアスリートがでてきたためしはない。学校の先生はアマチュアなのだ。本気で野球をやりたいのなら、きちんとしたコーチにつくべき。

　クラブ活動などと言っているが、ほとんど遊びだ。

　　We had better treat our lives morecarefully.  When we meet a teacher whomwe really respect, we may follow his or her teachings.  However, is it right to follow whatever he orshe orders if he or she is just a teacher we happen to meet?

  We have no top athlete from club activitiesbecause teachers are not professional but amateurs.  We should find a professional if we reallywant to be a top athlete.
