設立３３年目の進学塾
今年で、当塾は設立３３年目だ。開設時にあったライバル塾は１つも生き残っていない。目の前でいくつも塾が閉鎖されていくのを見ていて危機感を持った。
I opened my school 33 years ago. My competitors at that time have closed. All of them. The crisis was there.
「どうしてつぶれていくのだ」
これは簡単で、
「合格の実績があがらない」
から。特に、川越、桑名、四日市高校に合格したい子たちは競争が激しい。いなべ総合や桑名西は志願する子が少ないので、定員割れする年があると生徒は
「名前を書けば合格する」
とタカをくくる。
“Why were they closed?”
The answer is easy.
“They failed in gathering good students.”
Competition among students to good schools is keen. On the other hand, bad students say
“What we have to do is just writing our name.”
で、長年受験指導を長く続けると進学３校に合格する生徒の学力や性格がどういうものかよく分かってくる。
I've taught students for a long time and knew what type of students can pass the entrance exams to good schools.

言うまでもなく
「真面目で高学力」
である生徒だ。
Needless to say,
“Good students.”
たとえば、
「学校で８０点とっているオレ様は川越は楽勝ですよね」
と生徒が言う。私は無理だと思う。学校のテストは入試とレベルが違うし、出題傾向も違う。９０点以上などザラにいる。入試は順位だ。地元の北勢中学校や、東員第二中学校では、四日市高校は学年で１人、桑名高校は６人、川越高校は７人程度だろうか。上位の２割ほどに入っていないと合格できない。
For example
“I always get ove 80 points in every test held at school. It is easy for me to pass the entrance exam to Kawagoe high school, isn't it?”
I say it is not easy or very difficult because tests held at school are different from the entrance exams.
At Hokusei school and Toin school, only 1 student can pass it to Yokkaiti high school, 6 to Kuwana high school and 7 to Kawagoe high school.
ところが、１０年ほど前から生徒も保護者もおかしくなってきた。モンスターペアレントが世間を席巻し始めた頃だ。この事実を口にすることはまかりならん状態になってきた。
But things have been changing for 10 years. Monster Parent spread. It became impossible for us to tell a truth.
それどころか、自分の学力順位さえ教えてもらえなくなってきた。そして、昨年（２０１５）最大のというか唯一の業者テストの「三進連」が倒産した。業者テストの追放、偏差値追放のせいだ。
Right now, they cannot know their own rank. Then a company to rank students closed last year because public school teachers criticized using such a company.
つまり、ここ「いなべ市」の中学三年生は自分が上位の２割に入っているかも分からず、他校の生徒との学力比較もできる目隠し状態で受験を迎えるしかなくなった。
Only 20% of top students can pass the entrance exams to good schools. But they cannot know theiw own rank because public school teachers don't let students know their rank.
これが、学校の先生の目指してきた理想の状態なのは分かる。
「助け合い」「愛」「絆」
が実現できたわけだ。表面上。しかし、合格実績は激落ちだ。私の同級生は四日市高校に１０名合格した。
This is the ideal for the public school students. But a very few students can go to good schools. 10 of my classmates went to Yokkaiti high school.
塾講師も難しい状態に置かれた。本当のことを口にすると激怒する保護者が増えてきた。
「学校で、いつも８０点以上とっているのに桑高が無理って、ナンダ！」
と言われる。それで、多くの塾講師は
「それで大丈夫ですよ。一緒に頑張りましょう」
などと、無責任なことを言う。
We private school teachers had a difficult time because we have many students' parents who get angry when we tell a truth saying
“Are you saying that my son cannot pass the entrance exam?”
So many private school teachers say
“That is O.K. We do our best.”
They are not responsible.
もちろん、合格するわけないので合格実績は上がらない。私の塾の一期生は、もう４８歳だ。小さな町なので、その後のこともよく知っている。
暴走族やヤクザまがいになった子もいるし、ニートや非正規で苦しんでいる子もいる。
Such schools cannot have good students. My first student is now 48. Since my hometown is small, it is easy what my students are doing. Some bad students became gangs and some are doing part time jobs.
早い時期に
「そんな態度では生きていけない」
と教えてやるべきなのに、大人たちが生徒に媚びている。校内暴力やイジメで世間が騒ぎ始めた頃から
「あんな奴らがどうなろうが、俺たちに関係ない」
と思う人が多くなった。
We had better tell them
“You won't be able to survive if you don't study hard.”
However teachers flatter students and school bullying started.
“Students? Just let them do what they like. We have nothing to do with them”
いや、ほとんどの大人がそう思っている。中学生や高校生でもナイフを持って、人を殺す世の中だ。関わらないのが一番。
世も末じゃ。
Most students think that way. Even junior highs use knives. We had better stay away from them
私は子供を抱えて倒産するわけにはいかないので、常識のある素行の良い真面目な生徒だけを相手にすることにした。お陰で３０年以上生き残れた。もちろん、不良や非行少女たちからは嫌われている。
I cannot go bankrupt having children. So I decided to teach only welbehaved good students. That is because my school has survived more than 30 years. Of course, bad students and delinquents dislike me or my school.
本当のことをブログに書いて、動画を投稿したら四日市高校の受験生や旧帝受験生が集まってもらえて合格実績がさらに上がった。彼や彼女が口にすることをブログに書いたら、支持者が増えたがアンチも増えた。
I am honest to write blogs and motion pictures. Good students to sit for the entrance exam to Yokkaiti high school and Kyoto University came to my school. Male and female students tell me what they think and feel.
At the same time, those who don't like me increased, too.
塾講師は、生徒の声に耳を貸さないといけない。私の塾生は、
「あの子たち、死ねばいいのに」
とまで言うほど、ダラダラ生きている子が嫌いな子もいる。絶対に一緒のクラスにはいられない。アンチがいるからといって、指導方針を変えることはできない。
We private techers have to be careful about what students say. One of my students said
“Those stupid students should die.”
Good students dislike stupid students in general. They don't want to be in the same class. Although there are some people who don't like me, I cannot change my way of teaching because good students like it.
