I was going to Yokkaichi senior high school by train.  So I made some friends on the same train since they went to the same school.  Some of them were very smart and passed the entrance exam to the medical department of the University of Kyoto.   They were surprise to us.

But now there are a few smart studets who will try to go to the top universities.  Teaching them, they are no surprise to me.  Their English level is not so high for me.  My view to them is different from the one I used to have.

Of course, they can solve difficult problems I could not solve when I was a senior high school student.  It is true that they are smart but it is natural because they practice twice as many problems as average students solve.

Their classmates regard smart students  as a genious.

Of course, there are some students who try to sit for Osaka University or Nagoya University.  They are among top 60 at Yokkaichi senior high and top 10 students at Kuwan senior high school.

However the number of students who can pass the entrance exam to Tokkaichi senior high school is decreasing.  Only 1 students in the same age group.

I'm teaching students every day and know even the top student cannot get good score .   That is why I'm writing this blog.

“Club activity might prevent students from studying.”

“Group teaching system might prevent students from studying.”

But nothing is changed.   They do the same teaching and the same result is coming out.

We don't have to change anything.

Different people have different value system.

Our way has been working well.

Club activity is necessary for students to  be mature.

    Helping each other is important.

Denying the bond among people is bad.

I have no intention to speak ill of others.  That is democracy.

It is O.K. that people do what they like.  But if you want to pass the entrance exam to good schools, you have to control yourself.  In many cases, you cannot do what you like.

For example, group teaching is not good to prepare for the entrance exam because we are alone when we take exams.

When you are in trouble, you have to solve the problem in exams.  Such attitude is essential

“Nobody helps me.”

“I have to do it alone.”

  Group teaching works reversely.

Teamwork?  That's fine.  However it has nothing to do with entrance exams.  Moreover students are in trouble without enough time to study owing to it.

The balance between club and studying?  A school in the next town has around 20 students to Yokkaichi high school but only 1 student in this town.  Something must be wrong.

Right now students get the result of private schools' exams.  And say that they need more time to sit for public or national schools' exams.  This is ridicuous because they could have more than 480 hours if they quit club activities.
For 3 years, more than 1000 hours.
