It was 5 days before the entrance exam to the University of Nagoya.  When I was studying in my room, suddenly my hands and legs started trembling.  Then  slipped down from the chair.  My father took me to the nearest hospital and I was hospitalized.  The doctor said it was neurosis caused by too much studying.

So I believed that it was almost impossible for me to master math.  This got me down and it became trauma.  I've stayed away from math for a long time since then and worked as an English teacher.

But

Yesterday when I was teaching math, a boy said showing the result of a trial exam

“I was No.9 in math test in my school.”

 I said

“Wow! That's great!”

At that time, I was overcome by deep emotion because such number tells us that he is good enough to take te entrance exama to the University of Kyoto.

When I came home from the U.S.A., I though

“I can speak English.  It must be easy to pass the 1st grade of Step test”

However it was wrong.   I failed in it and it got me down.

When I passed it at the age of 30,

“Wow!  Is this real?”

When I was in my early fifties, I sat for the entrance exam to the University of Kyoto with high school students.  This changed my viewpoint of life.  The feeling that I reached the top level of Yokkaichi High School was strange.  Not pleasure but amazing.

In the case of math,, I made sure that my level was over the border to pass the entrance exam to the University of Kyoto, taking the exam with senior high school students at the age of 50.

Every single teacher wants to teach good students as I have.  My students are so smart.  They are much more talented than I am.

I believed that it was impossible for me to master English and math in my life when I was young.  Now I know it is possible.  Without good students in my schoo, I could not keep studying.  Thank you, good boys and girls.
