Discoveries and Inventions That Anyone Can Make 2.3.3 Make it zero not decrease, Appearance of an understander (a company)
If you dare to translate the Japanese word of "kaizen" into English, it would be a betterment or a change for the better. The translated words never mean the best or a change for the best. Decrease means to become less. It does not necessarily mean to be zero.
For most electrical engineers would imagine that improving standby electricity consumption means its decrease. I don't think there are many people who imagine that it will be zero.
If you are an electric engineer or a developer with "common sense", you would imagine the damage and negative phenomena caused by the zeroing first of all and the idea of zeroing the facsimile machines standby electricity consumption should not come to your mind. It comes from the well-known idea of demerit system. As a result, the improvement result will be "some % reduction compared to the old model" by the commonsense solution and the imitative solution. It takes time to reach the best improvement of zero standby power.
It would be difficult for a company to accept rough ideas such as turning off the power completely to achieve zero standby electricity consumption for facsimile machines. And you won't be able to put it into practice.
On the other hand, the concept of zero emissions of waste and poisons in production plants has already been adopted by many companies. Before reaching this state of zero emissions, the method of reducing waste and toxic substances should have been taken. Accumulation of these reduction efforts and the idea that waste and poisons are absolutely "bad" led to zero emissions, which is the complete elimination of waste and poison emissions.
If we had had a concept that standby electricity consumption was bad, the speed to zero might have been faster. However, standby electricity consumption has been recognized by the majority of people in society as a "necessary evil" because of convenience. For that reason, no one would have considered zeroing standby electricity consumption.
However, I myself think that most of the standby electricity consumption is not "necessary evil" but "evil" itself. If eliminating this "evil" would help save energy, protect the global environment, and prevent global warming, I expected that supporters would emerge someday. Since the development of Setsuden-mushi (a profit-making device) in 1994, I have been secretly expecting the emergence of supporters for a long time of eight years. I am deeply grateful to the many supporters who have featured and introduced me in the mass medias such as magazines, newspapers, radio and television during the last eight years. As a result, that expectation finally came true in 2002 as a true supporter in production and sales of Setsuden-mushi. NTT-AT has started commercializing their NTT version of Setsuden-mushi (a profit-making device) and started selling it in 2003.Please refer to the following site for the pictures and/or references.
