　Among those who kindly and graciously replied to my thoughts in the e-mail was the then Director General of the Science and Technology Agency, Minister Hidenao Nakagawa, who also became the Chief Cabinet Secretary of the second Mori Cabinet, which was inaugurated on Tuesday, July 4, 2000, around the time I started writing this book.

　The reply from Minister Nakagawa was as follows
