The second hearing was conducted by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Committee, which consists of 29 academic experts chaired by Professor Emeritus Naoji Isshiki of the Tokyo Institute of Technology.

Because Onomichi, where I live, is far away from Tokyo, the order of the audit was set in the early afternoon. This was thanks to the consideration of Mr. Ogata, the administrative staff of the Energy Conservation Center, Japan, and Mr. Funaoka, the technical staff. Most of the companies that were subject to the second round of judging were large companies with headquarters or offices in Tokyo or the Tokyo area, and I may have been the only one who had to come to Tokyo from the countryside.

November 14 was the second hearing of the Energy Conservation Vanguard 21 (21st Century Energy Conservation Equipment and System Award). I am exaggerating a little, but if I were Tokugawa Ieyasu, (Tycoon) I would say that it was the battle of Sekigahara. It was early in the morning, and I was to face battles with a number of big corporate warriors, but I was not overwhelmed and took the Shinkansen from Shin-Onomichi Station to Tokyo.

In the train, I took out the OHP film I had prepared for the 8-minute presentation given to all the presenters at the presentation venue and repeated the order and content of the presentation twice in my head. At that time, PowerPoint presentations were not yet available. I spent most of the remaining time in the car with a Sony Walkman with the NHK logo on it, which I had received when I had Setsuden-mushi covered by NHK Tokyo. I spent the five hours to Tokyo listening to songs by my favorite singer, Mariko Takahashi, and songs I played as a member of Guitar Mandolin Club "Guitar La TOYOBO" when I was working for TOYOBO, sometimes dozing off.

After arriving in Tokyo, I entered the building where the screening venue was located near Tokyo Station at around 12:00 p.m. Mr. Ogata of the Energy Conservation Foundation had provided us with a map. I immediately informed the woman at the reception desk of my arrival, and waited for about an hour before my presentation began.

The waiting time is not very pleasant, but fortunately, I had some business to attend to with someone who was interested in Setsuden-mushi, so I was able to attend the screening at 1:00 p.m. without thinking too much.
