The textile industry boomed after the war, through the years following the end of World War II in 1945, peaking during the Korean War (June 25, 1950 - July 27, 1953 - Armistice) until around 1965, when I joined the company. Toyobo, a company that had grown strong during this boom period, was still strong and good times continued for the next 10 years or so (until around 1975).

However, the environment surrounding Japan's domestic textile industry rapidly deteriorated due to the Japan-U.S. textile negotiations (1955-1972), which were initiated on the grounds that the U.S. domestic textile industry had been severely damaged by cheap, high-quality textile imports from Japan, the voluntary export controls on the Japanese side (for five years from 1957), the two oil shocks, the hollowing out of the labor-intensive textile industry in Japan. All of these contributed to the decline of Toyobo's business.

As a result, TOYOBO, which was regarded as a leader in the textile industry and was said by many that the government would not destroy it, was forced to streamline its management through a merger (1966) and to implement voluntary retirement for its employees (1976).

The two research centers in Takatsuki City (Osaka Prefecture) and Kata City (Shiga Prefecture), with approximately 2,000 researchers, could not be exempted from the consolidation policy of 1976.

TOYOBO, which had led Japan's postwar manufacturing industry and Japan as a whole, was no longer a leader.
