"Get a TOEIC score of 800!"

　This is the notice that Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation issued to its 13,000 career-track employees on February 12, 2011. Of course, employees working in Japan were also subject to this notice. (The Asahi Shimbun)

　While English language skills are often required by manufacturers and trading companies, "usable English skills" can no longer be ignored by other companies as well.

　Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, the company that issued the order, seems to be taking care to make it easy for their employees to take lessons and take the test even if they cut into their work hours on weekdays, but this kind of consideration from the company should be considered exceptional.

　I have also challenged Eiken, TOEIC (Test of English as a Foreign Language), and the United Nations English Proficiency Test, all at my own expense as a process of my self-study. However, thanks to this, I have also acquired an efficient method of learning English on my own with financial sense. This learning method has been introduced in this book, as well as on my Internet Homepage and I have presented it on various occasions. I believe that "self-reliance and autonomy" are necessary not only for language learning but also for other types of learning.

　The learning experience of self-learning and learning efficient learning methods are essential in the language business and in educational support (Ex. English cram schools).

　With this experience, I left my position as a researcher at a large corporation in the spring of my 30th year to start a new life as a manager and instructor of a one-man English tutoring school. This had been a dream of mine since I was a teenager, and it came true just as I had planned.
