This is the story of the European-style restaurant Bistro Papa (Bistro Company, Hiroshima Prefecture), which became a prosperous restaurant just two years after its opening. The owner, Mr. Kawada, said, “I didn't know what to do and how to open it, so I started with zero self-financing.” It was at SME College that Mr. Kawada learned how to open his store.
The 4-page business plan he first made was worked up into a 19-page detailed founding plan under the guidance of the instructor. Thanks to that, a loan of 12 million yen was decided by the Japan Finance Corporation. The remaining 4 million yen required for the opening of the business was borrowed from the parents of the couple (payed back the following year), and they were able to manage the long-planned opening of the business. The secret of Mr. Kawada's success can be analyzed as follows.
