Chapter 3 Ingenuity from Moderate Inferiority and Poverty 3.3 Shared with everyone
A method in which a company or an individual applies for and registers the results of inventions, discoveries, technologies, ingenuity, etc. as patents or utility models and sets exclusive rights on them is common and effective for companies. Of course, trademark and design registration are also possible.
Indeed, there are many examples of good and exclusive inventions, discoveries, technologies and ingenuity that have brought great benefits to businesses. On the other hand, there is also another form in which companies and individuals do not monopolize them, but open them from the beginning and make them better with the participation of many other people.
Personally, I hope that inventions, discoveries, technologies, and ingenuity related to environment and life will be open to the public basically free of charge, which I am sure will benefit more people. I by myself applied for a utility model of Setsuden-mushi (a profit-making device), but my basic stance was that if other companies would use it as their environmental technology, I would like them to use it. Then I released it to the public. To commercialize something using basic technology, the technical information and know-how are necessary. I would be happy if there were a minimum price to be paid for the technology, know-how and use of the trademark. If the use of this technology does not make a profit for them, I will not charge any to them.
Inventions, discoveries, technologies, and ingenuity are valuable only when they are used. They are meaningless if not used and they will even become a burden.

Patents of vaccines against COVID-19 should be released when its cost and the next vaccine development fund is secured.)
