Chapter 3 　Ingenuity from Moderate Inferiority and Poverty 　3.3.2 Openness and easiness

If monopolizing inventions, discoveries, technologies and ingenuity also brings pain to the company besides the profit, opening them up may bring comfort and enjoyment to the company. It's better mentally to be open than to wear down your nerves to maintain a monopoly.

Developers and the companies to which they belong will hesitate to open up the contents of important inventions, discoveries and ingenuity.

However, information disclosure by IT including the Internet is progressing significantly. If you track who made the original invention, discovery or ingenuity, you will find them out easily. In Japan, patents are granted in accordance with the first-to-file principle, but I think it makes more sense to prioritize the date of inventions. Today, it becomes clear by investigating who made inventions, discoveries and ingenuity, and who cooperated to evolve and use them, and who made them serve the public interest. Mr. Koichi Tanaka, who won the 2002 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, is a good example. The Nobel Prize Committee found Mr. Tanaka, even though most of us Japanese didn't know him.

I hope that inventions, discoveries and ingenuity related to the environment and life will basically be open to the public all over the world. And I hope they will be improved by many people and will serve many public interests. Of course, it is an essential condition that the persons who invented, discovered and ingenuity will benefit at the living level and research promotion level and they will be treated well commonsensicality. I hope that this idea extends to other intellectual property rights as well.
